The spreadsheet below includes two data sets: historical disposal tonnage by city, sourced from Public Works Los Angeles County, and city population estimates, sourced from the State of California Department of Finance.

The purpose of this spreadsheet is to answer the question: how much trash do we throw away per person?

Excitingly, this spreadsheet is just the start. With 88 cities and unincorporated areas within Los Angeles County, we have plenty of questions to ask. Since 2020, LA County has made some significant improvements. Let's see where else we can find some wins.
